2012 Beau Slocumb Memorial To Take Place on April 7th And the 2012 World Crown 300 on July 4th

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

JEFFERSON, GA (January 25, 2012) – Gresham Motorsports Park announces today that that the Beau Slocumb Memorial Presented by US Auto Sales will take place on April 6-7, 2012, and the 29th-Annual World Crown 300 will take place on July 3-4, 2012.

The 2nd-Annual Beau Slocumb Memorial Presented by US Auto Sales will open up the 2012 race season on April 6th and 7th with Pro Late Models, Outlaw Late Models, Trucks, Sportsman, Renegades and Mini Stocks.

This race event will be comprised of three segments with a purse of $2,500 to the winner of the first 100 laps, $3,000 to the winner of the second segment of 75 laps and $4,500 to the winner of the final 33 laps. The total amount of $10,000 will be given to a driver who wins all three segments, 208 laps, and $1,000 for a single driver to start all three segments.

“The Beau Slocumb Memorial Presented by US Auto Sales was separated from the World Crown 300 so that the Pro Late Models would have their own huge race event dedicated just to them,” said GMP General Manager, Dan Elliott.

The 2nd-Annual Easter Egg drop for the kids at GMP will be April 7th at 4:25 pm, before the opening ceremonies for the night’s events. Candy and prize eggs will be dropped for kids onto pit road from a helicopter; prize eggs will include: candy, race tickets, cash, t-shirts, gift cards and more!

The World Crown 300 dates were moved to fill a void of large race events for Super Late Models in the middle of the race season. The big race events for Super Late Models are run at the beginning and the end of the race season and GMP wanted to give drivers and fans a large Super Late Model event mid-season.

The World Crown that will now be on July 3rd and 4th, will consist of Super Late Models, trucks, Outlaw Late Models and FIREWORKS! Tuesday night, July 3, will be tech day followed by an open rotating practice for Wednesday’s race events.

Three segments of green flag laps will make up this Super Late Model Race event with a purse of $20,000 to a single winner of all three segments. The winner of the first 150 laps will receive $4,000, the second segment winner of 100 laps will earn $6,000 and the winner of the last 50 laps will win $10,000.

The fireworks show will be free to race fans that attend the World Crown race event with no charge for parking. There will be a $5 charge for the public to park at GMP and view the fireworks show if they did not purchase a ticket to the World Crown 300.

Kipper Tool will be partnering with GMP again this year to provide tickets, free of charge, to active and retired military for the World Crown 300. Tickets will be limited and you must present a valid military I.D. to be eligible

Kipper Tool and Texas Roadhouse will also be partnering with GMP for the World Crown 300 to raise funds for charities that support troops, soldiers and their families. Fans will have the opportunity to win great prizes by participating! More information and details about Free tickets for military and veterans and how to enter to win at the World Crown 300 will be posted to GMP’s website soon!

In addition to the Beau Slocumb Memorial in April, the Racing Radios 100 Super Late Model race will be in May, NASCAR K&N Pro Series East will be returning in June for the Slack Auto Parts 150, the World Crown 300 will be in July, and the CRA Super Series will be returning to close out the GMP race season on September 15 with their competitive series of Super Late Models.

“I am really excited about our schedule change for 2012,” said Elliott. “We have big race events that will go all season long giving fans a great race season with a schedule that competitors will like too.”

The 2013 date for the Beau Slocumb Memorial will be Friday and Saturday, March 29-30. The 2013 date for the World Crown 300 will be Tuesday and Wednesday, July 2nd and 3rd. These annual race events will be listed on the 2013 race schedule.

There will be larger race events during this season that will be dedicated to our local divisions including, Trucks, Outlaw Late Models, Renegades/Sportsman and Mini Stocks.

For those who purchase their tickets in advance for either the 2012 Beau Slocumb Memorial or the 2012 World Crown 300, there will be a $5 discount for each ticket purchased. This offer will only be available until the week prior to each event. Tickets can be purchased now on GMP’s website or by calling (706) 367-9461.
